2014-07-21 - [GB] DRS Charity Open Day - July 19th: an impression

Home News Archive 2014-07-21 - [GB] DRS Charity Open Day - July 19th: an impression

On July 19, DRS held an open day for charity at its Gresty Bridge Depot in Crewe. Many thanks to John Whittingham and Andrew Haxton who were there to make some impressions of the Class 68 diesel locomotives on display. Five of seven Class 68s that are currently in the UK were present:

DRS 68002

DRS 68004

DRS 68006

DRS 68007

DRS 68008

Of course, the Class 68s were not the only (diesel) locomotives on display. The complete list (Class 68s excluded): 57012, 57306, 37682, 20309, 20308, 37606, 37610, 66429, 57010, 47818, 57002, Prince (Festiniog Railway steam engine), 90034, 57011, 57311, 37608, 57312.

Steam engine Prince was alongside 68002: Festiniog Railway No. 2 (built in 1863) alongside Class 68 No. 2. (built in 2013). Note that they differ 150(!) years in age.
