Home News Archive 2014-08-21 - [DE/NL] New coal service contract for Heavy Haul Power International

In December, Heavy Haul Power International will start operating three coal train services between the Netherlands and Germany. The following services are foreseen:

1) Rotterdam Maasvlakte - München Johanneskirchen
2) Rotterdam Maasvlakte - Bottrop Süd
3) Amsterdam Houtrakpolder/Amsterdam Westhaven - Gladbeck West

Although this has not been confirmed, various sources mention that HHPI plans to use PowerHaul locomotives 29008 and 29009 for these services. Note that approval of the locomotives for both Germany and the Netherlands is still pending. 29008 and 29009 are currently in Germany for homologation trials.
