In Leutkirch on the Lindau - Memmingen - Buchloe line the Austrian 2016 is not at all common. But in October 2014, the Austrian Arlberg line was closed due to construction works. During these works, Austrian freight trains from and to Vorarlberg were bypassing the Arlberg through non-electrified lines in Germany. Apart from German diesels (232/233- and 225-series), Austrian 2016 locos were used for these services.
