Brightline and Virgin Group have announced their plans to launch a strategic partnership with the aim to further grow America's first privately funded intercity train service in over 100 years. The partnership will see Brightline renamed into Virgin Trains USA in November 2018. Rebranding will occur in 2019. As part of the deal, Virgin Group takes a minority stake in the company.

Currently, Brightline operates intercity services in Florida between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Plans exist to expand the network into Orlando and Tampa. Furthermore, the company eyes the construction of a similar service between Las Vegas and Southern California.
