Today, on December 9, the first freight train between Yiwu in China and Madrid in Spain arrived at the Madrid Abronigal container terminal. In 21 days, the train covered a distance of 13,000km. The train service, which will operate twice per month in 2015, is provided by IRS InterRail Services and DB Schenker. The latter provided traction in Poland (DB Schenker Rail Polska), Germany (DB Schenker Rail Deutschland) and France (Euro Cargo Rail).
DB Schenker subsidiary Transfesa provided traction for the last part of the journey in Spain with locomotive Vossloh 2228 - Transfesa 335 010-5. It received special "First Yiwu-Madrid Train" markings for the occasion.
