As of March 2016, Deutsche Asset Management (Deutsche AM) will hold a 50% stake in Akiem. At this moment, the Franch leasing copany is a 100% subsidiary of the Ermewa Group, part of SNCF.
Together with Deutsche Asset Management (Deutsche AM), Akiem wants to expand its activities in Europe, a double its fleet in the next ten years.

Akiem 77507 has arrived in the UK. After modification, the loco will be used by GB Railfreight. Previously, the loco was leased by Captrain France (formerly VFLI) and RegioRail.
On June 7th, loco 66433 was named at Carlisle Station. It now carries plates with the name: Carlisle Power Signal Box - 50th Anniversary 1973-2023.
Akiem 77501 has been seen on the back of a low loader heading for the UK. There the loco will be modified to UK standards and leased to GB Railfreight as part of a 10-year lease agreement for 11 locomotives in total.
